MANILA: The alert degree for a Philippine volcano was raised Monday after an “explosive eruption” despatched a plume of ash, fuel and steam 5 kilometers (three miles) into the sky, the volcanology company stated.
Mount Kanlaon on the central island of Negros erupted shortly earlier than 7:00 p.m. (1100 GMT), prompting warnings for close by residents to put on facemasks due the specter of volcanic gases and falling ash.
“When it erupted we heard a thunder-like sound,” Ethan Asentista-Khoo, 35, stated from his residence in Pula village close to the volcano.
